Welcome to the party.

Prior to his concerts at Comerica Park on Friday and Saturday, Kid Rock is hosting block parties in front of the Detroit Tigers' home, complete with a chili cook-off, car show, motocross exhibition and live music. The celebrations, in the lots in front of Comerica Park between Woodward Avenue and Witherall Street, begin at 2 p.m. both days and are open to the public, promoter Live Nation has announced.

Gates open for the concerts at 5 p.m. both days, and the concerts start at 6:30 p.m. Friday's opener is Lynyrd Skynyrd; Cypress Hill and Alice in Chains open Saturday's show.

A limited number of tickets are still available for Saturday's concert through Tickets.com, the Comerica Park box office, select Meijer stores or by phone at (866) 668-4437.
