Scalping: System seeks to prevent it

TULSA — Tickets go on sale Saturday for Miley Cyrus’ October show at the BOK Center, but parents and fans shouldn’t line up at the box office for them.

Cyrus, the 16-year-old star of the hit Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana” and its big-screen spinoff, "Hannah Montana: The Movie,” will play at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Tulsa arena, 200 S Denver. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Pop band Metro Station will be the supporting act.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at www.bokcenter.com and www.tickets.com and by phone at (866) 726-5287. Tickets are priced at $82.25, $62.25 and $42.25.

In an effort to prevent scalping, the show is a "paperless” event, so tickets won’t be available at the box office or usual brick-and-mortar outlets, according to the BOK Center.

Since all tickets will be sold through paperless ticket delivery, fans won’t get a physical ticket to enter, according to a news release from the venue.

On the day of show, concertgoers must bring the credit card they used to buy the tickets and a government-issued photo ID. All members of the ticket buyer’s party must be present at the same time to enter the venue. An usher will swipe the credit card and present each person in the group with seat locator slips to get into the show.

On her 2007-08 "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Tour,” tickets sold out in mere moments. Most were snapped up by ticket brokers planning to resell the seats to desperate parents for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Oklahoma City’s Ford Center was among the sell-out shows.

That tour, which was turned into a hit concert film, won the 2008 Billboard Touring Award for Breakthrough Act, according to the release.

Along with her TV and growing film career, Cyrus is a multiplatinum-selling singer and the youngest recording artist to notch four No. 1 albums in less than three years.
