For the third time in the last four years the K-Rock Centre has again been voted Venue of the Year under 8,000 seats at the 2012 Canadian Music and Broadcast Industry Awards.
"It's a true accomplishment for everyone involved with the facility, and it recognizes what we in Kingston already knew, that the K-Rock Centre is the premiere venue of its size in the country," said SMG Canada's General Manager, Ken Noakes.
"Awards like this can never be realized without the endless hard work of our staff, as well as support from all of our partners throughout the city, and the Eastern Ontario region. Winning this award for a third time shows that the K-Rock Centre has made a name for itself in the music industry, and is a facility which is top of mind for industry professionals."
SMG Vice President Harry Cann added, "We are thrilled to receive this industry recognition for the third time in four years. This is a true team effort in Kingston. While our local staff and national support team have worked hard to achieve this success, these awards are a testament to the City's foresight and delivery of an outstanding facility along with tremendous support from the business community and local citizens. The K-Rock Centre has certainly established itself as centerpiece asset for the City and the region."
Tickets.com sends a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Ken Noakes and the entire K-Rock Centre team!

INTRUST Bank Arena and Mercer University Both Convert to ProVenue®
INTRUST Bank Arena, an SMG managed facility, and all other regional Select-A-Seat venues have recently converted to the ProVenue Platform. INTRUST Bank Arena is one of the Midwest's premier arenas with a 15,000-seat capacity and host to several of the industry's top sporting events and live entertainment shows.
Select-A-Seat also provides ticketing services for several Wichita area clients; including the Wingnuts, Orpheum Theatre and the Grand Opera. The move enables the organization to recruit additional venues that would also benefit from a shared system (single database) to promote and increase ticket sales.
Mercer Ticket Sales (MTS), a regional ticketing distribution company based in Macon, Georgia, also joined the ranks of Tickets.com clients operating on ProVenue. The decision to move from the ProVenueMax system and invest in the ProVenue platform, along with Access Control for the Macon Grand Opera House, allows them to extend their regional ticketing service more readily in Central Georgia and beyond.
Residents of the Opera House, The Macon Symphony, will join MTS for their 2011-2012 season as well as Mercer University Athletics, which plans to add NCAA Division 1 Football in the coming seasons to complement its strong Division 1 Basketball program.

SMG Takes Tulsa’s BOK Center To $1.1 Million Profit For Year One
IAAM Newsletter
Since the opening of Tulsa’s BOK Center, a SMG–managed facility, it has crushed all expectations for its inaugural fiscal year, generating $2.8 million in sales tax revenue and posting a $1.1 million venue profit.
With the fiscal year spanning from July 1, 2008, until June 30, 2009, original estimates had the arena generating $1.6 million in sales tax revenue, but it reached $2,825,424. The budget was based on achieving a $285,543 profit, while the arena made $1,097,965.
“The numbers show it's been a spectacular year for us,” BOK Center/SMG General Manager John Bolton said. “Tulsans have responded in an amazing way. It speaks a lot to the caliber of the building, the quality and variety of events we've had, our SMG staff, and the ticket-buying public, who have kept coming.”
During its first fiscal year, the BOK Center hosted 166 events, selling over 35.7 million dollars in tickets and an attendance total of over 700,000.
